VITILIGO PREVALENCE IN THE WORLD:
>3% *from 1 to 8% depending on region prevalenceVITINOMICS.NET represents a new, collaborative approach to medical research and development where like-minded investigators and volunteers create common pools of knowledge and processes upon which new discoveries and innovations are made.
Such approach proved itself enormously valuable, i.e. in genetics, with GenBank – the largest public database of genetic information. It is the culmination of myriad public and private efforts that placed genetic information in the public domain. It provides an infrastructure of freely available scientific information for millions of biomedical researchers and will spur follow-on innovation for decades.
With the same approach, VITINOMICS.NET is focused on a specific problem in dermatology - vitiligo. A small number of visionaries think there is an enormous opportunity for collaboration here. No one is suggesting it will be easy, but combining resources of philanthropists, government and NGO’s with top scientific minds currently offer the most hope for neglected diseases, such as vitiligo.
Supported by non-profit VR Foundation
